Samsung has frequently been ahead of schedule when it comes to Google’s Android security patches. Continuing the trend, the smartphone manufacturer has begun delivering the August 2022 security update to its flagship smartphones. The Korean company has become so adept at delivering software updates that it routinely outperforms Google. The August 2022 patches are now available for the Galaxy S22, S21, and S20 models.
Galaxy S20, S21, And S22 Phones Getting August 2022 Security Patch
Starting with the Galaxy S22 series, a new update with the firmware version S90xBXXU2AVG6 is available for the Exynos 2200-powered European variants of the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra smartphones. The 400MB update is currently being rolled out in Russia, Georgia, and several European countries. Similarly, the August 2022 patches are now available for the Exynos 2100-powered edition of the Galaxy S21. G99xBXXU5CVGB is the software version available in Germany.
The August 2022 security update for the Galaxy S20 is available as software version G98xxXXUEFVG5. The update is available for its Exynos variants, for both LTE and 5G models, and are the first to receive the new release, which begins in Germany.

The update is reportedly rolling out in portions of Europe but OTAs should begin to surface in more countries in the coming days. If you haven’t already gotten a notification, you may check for updates by heading over to Settings > Software update > Download and install. As per Samsung’s track record, the update is being handed out in phases and should reach more customers over the next week.
