Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Tab A8 in India last week, pitting it against the Realme Pad and Moto Tab G20 tablets. It comes as a good choice for folks who prefer a non-Chinese brand. While the prices and information were revealed last week itself, the tablet will be available for purchase starting from today.

The basic Wi-Fi only variant with 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage is available for ₹17,999. If you opt for the Wi-Fi + LTE variant with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, it will cost you ₹21,999. The 4GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage variant gets Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE variants with prices of ₹19,999 and ₹23,999 respectively.
The tablet is up for grabs from Samsung’s website, Amazon, and via Reliance Digital. Amazon is offering card discounts and EMI options for the product.
Samsung Tab A8 Features, Specifications
In this day and age of online learning, tablets or budget laptops are the most preferred by students. But as laptop prices are skyrocketing, Android tablets are the only hope for students with a budget below ₹20,000. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A8 becomes a good option in this price bracket as it offers a massive 10.5-inch WUXGA display with 1,920 x 1,200 pixels resolution. While Samsung hasn’t revealed details about its processor, GSMArena says it is powered by an octa-core Unisoc Tiger T618 processor, which consists of two powerful ARM Coretex A75 cores and six energy-efficient ARM Cortex A55 cores coupled with Mali G52 MP2 GPU.
As the tablet would be used majorly for video calling, it comes equipped with a 5MP front-facing shooter. There’s an 8MP shooter at the rear as well, which is capable of FullHD 1080p video recording at 30 fps. For entertainment purposes, it boasts of a four-speaker setup coupled with Dolby Atmos audio.
The Galaxy Tab A8 gets a USB 2.0 Type-C port for charging and data transfers. Connectivity features include LTE (optional), Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Inbuilt sensors include an accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, light, hall sensor, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo.
The tablet is powered by a 7,040mAh battery pack under its hood, which comes with 15W fast charging, as Samsung likes to call it. Additionally, the company is bundling in a 7.5W charging adapter in the box. The tablet runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box.
