The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, a company’s newest flagship tablet, was launched today alongside the Galaxy Tab S8 and the Galaxy Tab S8+. Previously limited to the Galaxy S7+ variant, this year, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will push the envelope even further. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will go head to head with the latest Apple iPad Pro 2021 and will try to offer productivity and value to its customers.
It comes with a massive 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate, premium build quality, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, S Pen, and many other features. The tablet will be covered with four major Android OS updates and five years of guaranteed security updates.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Features, Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra sports a big 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with WQXGA+ resolution (2,960×1,848), 240 PPI, and a 120Hz refresh rate. You can watch 8K videos with ease on this massive display.
The tablet measures 208.6×326.4×5.5mm and weighs 726g. The bezels around the display measure 6.3mm and there’s a camera notch at the top of the display. Touted to be built out of Armor Aluminium, it is the thinnest, lightest, and most durable tablet from Samsung. Compared with the Galaxy Tab S7, the Tab S8 Ultra is claimed to be 30% more scratch-resistant and boasts 40% higher resistance to bends.
The tablet will come with a magnetic type S Pen stylus that attaches to the rear of the tablet, just like its predecessor. The company has partnered with Clip Studio Paint to allow you to use the S Pen as a paintbrush and a wide variety of customisable tools to make use of the big screen real estate. Moreover, the S Pen is advertised to be more responsive than previous generations owing to the employment of advanced predictive algorithms by Samsung.
To compete with the iPad Pro’s performance monster, the Apple M1 chip, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor fabricated on Samsung’s 4nm process. The tablet comes equipped with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. You can connect up to 1TB of external drives and it also offers a microSD card slot to expand the storage further.
For photography and video calling purposes, it comes with dual-12MP sensors housed in the front display notch, which can handle 4K 60fps video recording. It gets an auto-framing tech that keeps the cameras focused on you and includes new participants in the frame.
The tablet gets three microphones onboard to eliminate ambient noises. Furthermore, it comes with quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, which promise to deliver clear sound during calls or while enjoying music and videos. At the rear, the tablet comes equipped with a 13MP primary sensor and a 6MP ultrawide shooter.
Samsung’s DeX will function in portrait display orientation. It will enable you to hold or position the tablet accordingly. Lastly, Google Health will make a debut on the tablet and will come with a three-column layout. The Samsung Tab S8 Ultra gives you the flexibility to use it as a 2-in-1 owing to the optional Book Cover Keyboard, which also comes with a fairly large trackpad. Samsung’s Book Cover Keyboard is an optional accessory though.
Connectivity features include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, in-display fingerprint sensor, GPS+GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, and USB Type-C port. It gets all the essential sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, hall sensor, and ambient light sensor.
Driving the huge display and a powerful processor will be a massive 11,200mAh battery under its hood coupled with 45W fast charging. It promises to charge the device fully in under 80 minutes.
