Samsung has launched an impressive-looking gaming monitor with a hefty price tag to boot—the Odyssey Ark. The company claims that it is the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen. It can be pre-ordered on the Samsung e-store. Customers who pre-order the monitor can avail a discount of $100 on the gaming monitor.

The Samsung Odyssey Ark Gaming Monitor gaming monitor has a 55-inch display with a curvature of 1000R. To accentuate the wrap-around effect, the monitor gets a “Cockpit Mode.” This functionality allows it to be rotated by using a height adjustable stand that can be tilted and pivoted as per the user’s preference.
The monitor has a resolution of 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The display makes use of Quantum Mini LEDs and a “sophisticated lighting control technology” to help gamers clearly view dark as well as bright scenes. It supports 16,384 black levels for a realistic effect.
Additionally, the Odyssey Ark monitor has a refresh rate of 165Hz with support for FreeSync Premium Pro. It has a response time of 1ms (gray-to-gray).
The Odyssey Ark gaming monitor comes with the Samsung Gaming Hub, the company’s all-in-one game streaming platform. The Hub allows gamers to discover and access games from various platforms such as Xbox, Google Stadia, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Utomik, and Amazon Luna.
The Samsung Odyssey Ark comes with various customizable options that let users adjust the position of the screen as well as change the screen size and ratio. The monitor features a solar-powered Ark Dial controller to change the settings.
The monitor has a “Flex Move Screen” function which can be used to vary the screen size from 55 inches to 27 inches. The Ark Dial can also be used to change the screen ratio with the following options—16:9, 21:9, and 32:9—for both horizontal and vertical views. The device has a Multi View feature which lets users view up to four screens at once in the horizontal mode. Meanwhile, Cockpit Mode allows three screens to be displayed.
Connectivity options include support for HDMI 2.1 (4EA), HDMI-CEC, and RJ45 LAN Port. For audio, the monitor comes with Dolby Atmos.
