Last month, Samsung had released three One UI 4 beta builds for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. It was followed by a “stable” One UI 4 update earlier this month. However, it proved to be extremely buggy. In an attempt to fix the issues, Samsung is rolling out a fourth One UI 4 update for both the foldable phones.
Users that have enrolled in the beta program will get the latest One UI 4 beta. It is to be noted that it is currently available only to South Korean users that have signed up for beta updates.
The Buggy “Stable” Update
The previous “stable” update was riddled with quite a lot of bugs and issues. Users flocked to Samsung forums to report the multitude of problems that they were facing. Some claimed that the new update caused their phone to go into recovery mode, thus soft-bricking the phone. Those who were able to install the update, faced issues like screen flickering and poor performance. Dark mode failed to work as intended, the camera app was broken, and the Dual Messenger feature stopped working entirely on some apps. Some users also complained that they were unable to take screenshots or view Netflix or YouTube.
The Newest One UI 4 Update
To address some of these issues, Samsung is rolling out the beta update version ZUL4. Here are details from the changelog (machine translated):
– Fixed the phenomenon of booting into safe mode or entering recovery mode
– When booting after update, all values changed to 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio are changed back to the app default
– Instagram, Link does not open in some apps such as Facebook
– Kiwoom Securities app does not run
The post warns that an error might still occur during the update, so it urges users to take a backup of important data first. The beta update is only available Over The Air and can be accessed by navigating to Settings → Software Update → Download & Install
