It was conceptualised in Germany but was manufactured in Ireland by Sonova Consumer Hearing, the new owners of Sennheiser’s consumer electronics division.
The earphones are made from a material called ZR01 amorphous zirconium. It is said to be stronger than high-performance steel along with improved scratch and corrosion resistance. A testament to the fact is that zirconium was used to make the drilling head of the Mars Rover built by NASA. Apart from increasing the lifespan of the earphones, the rugged material also helps to provide a high-fidelity sound output.
The Sennheiser IE 600 sports 7mm drivers that are claimed to deliver a distortion-free sound. The TrueResponse transducer offers a wide frequency range of 4Hz-46.5kHz. Sennheiser has tuned the acoustic back volume to produce a neutral and clear sound.
The Sennheiser IE 600 uses gold-plated MMCX connectors that attach to the driver housings. The earphones come bundled with two cables—one with a 3.5mm jack plug and the other with a 4.4mm Pentaconn connector. They also come with in-ear tips in three different sizes with choices of silicone and memory foam.
