Sony Xperia 10 II Android 12 Update Starts Rolling Out

Sony confirmed last month that it will release the latest Android 12 OS for two of its mid-range smartphones—the Sony Xperia 10 II and Sony Xperia 10 III. While there was no information on the exact timeline of the update, the company has finally started rolling out the Android 12 update to the Sony Xperia II. Notably, the company had already pushed a stable Android update for its flagship devices—the Sony Xperia 5 III and Sony Xperia 1 II.

Android 12 For Sony Xperia 10 II

According to a PhoneArena report, a couple of Reddit users have confirmed that they’ve received the Android 12 update on their Xperia 10 II devices. However, currently, the update is rolling out in just one region—South East Asia. We can expect the company to release the update in other regions over the next few weeks.

The latest update brings all the new Android 12 features alongside the March 2022 security patches. You can expect to see new additions like the updated Material You design, revamped Quick Settings panel, Privacy Dashboard, new home screen widgets, camera and mic privacy indicators, and more on your Xperia 10 II after installing the update.

The exact firmware version of the update is 59.2.A.0.422 and it is around 900MB in size. While the new update won’t affect any data on the device, users won’t be able to roll back to the previous Android 11 version after installing it.

The Sony Xperia 10 II was launched back in February 2020. The device features a 6.0-inch OLED panel with a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor, which is built on an 11nm process. For photography, the Xperia 10 II offers a triple rear camera setup with 12MP wide angle lens, 8MP telephoto lens, and 8MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, the device features an 8MP front shooter.
