Following the edit message feature, WhatsApp is working on a few new features such as undo message deletion and double verification code. These functions will be included in the latest Google Play Beta Program of the popular messaging platform. Additionally, more users will now be able to share documents up to 2GB, as the feature is being rolled out to a wider audience.

Get the latest technology news, reviews, and opinions on tech products right into your inboxWhile the ability to delete messages is a frequently used feature by WhatsApp users, it came with certain limitations. The function offers two options— “Delete for me” and “Delete for everyone”. Choosing the former would be disastrous if you selected it by mistake, as the latter option would be removed entirely. In the future, it will be possible to reverse this with the undo command.
As part of the beta version 2.22.13.5 of WhatsApp, the company is developing an undo deleted messages feature that can be used after you accidentally choose “delete for me”. As seen in the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, the app will display a snackbar at the bottom of the screen with the “Undo” option. You’ll be given a few seconds to recover the deleted message. Now that it is retrieved, you can delete it for everyone if you wish to do so.
Double Verification Code
According to a report by the outlet, WhatsApp is also working on improving the app’s security by introducing a double verification code feature. This means that when you try to log in via a new phone, you will have to enter an extra verification code to register your new device.
File Sharing Up To 2GB
Last month, WhatsApp introduced a function that will let you share files up to 2GB in size, as a part of a limited rollout. Now, users with the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.13.6 update will also be able to enjoy the new feature, as it is being rolled out to a wider audience.
WhatsApp Restoring Original Splash Screen
The WhatsApp beta version 2.22.12.8 has replaced the animated splash screen with the original one. This is available only on phones with Android 12, as the SplashScreen API is disabled with the latest update.
