WhatsApp had recently rolled out a host of new features to improve the functionality of the instant messaging app. The new features include emoji reactions, the ability to share 2GB files, and the increased limit for group members. As per a recent update, the messaging app may now add another productive feature to allow users to edit text messages in chats. The Edit feature is reportedly being tested on Android, iOS, and Desktop beta versions.
WhatsApp Message Edit Feature: Here’s How It Works
According to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is testing the ability to edit text messages in chats. To do so, you will have to tap and hold on the message you want to edit, then select the three-dotted icon on the top and choose the Edit option. The feature will prove extremely useful in case you accidentally send a typo and want to correct it. However, there’s no word on whether it will show off the edit history or the ability to examine the changes in the chat.

As the feature is currently in testing phase, we can expect the company to add the history feature to let the recipient know of the changes. However, WhatsApp has not yet specified an exact timeframe within which the text message can be edited. As mentioned earlier, the Edit feature is currently being tested in beta version. We can expect the feature to be rolled out in the stable version soon.
