WhatsApp is reportedly planning to introduce new security and privacy features. According to WABetaInfo, the company is working on new functions such as login approval and phone number sharing. Let’s have a look at how they will work.

If someone tries to log in to your WhatsApp account, you will receive an in-app alert notifying you of the same. This offers an extra level of security in case the malicious user was able to get your six-digit code.
Going by the screenshot, you might be able to glean additional information about the user, such as the time of login and details about their smartphone. However, since this feature is still under development, it’s hard to say what details will be shared.
Phone number sharing
The new phone number sharing feature will prove to be useful in hiding your number from others in the same communities. According to a WABetaInfo report, with the new setting, you will be able to control who can view your number.

By default, the number sharing option is disabled. This means that other members will not be able to see your phone number when you join a community. However, you can change the settings to share your contact details with members of your preferred community.
Currently, the login approval and number sharing features are still under development. There’s no word on when they will be rolled out.
