Microsoft’s cloud service lets you play the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC, but it comes with one big drawback—lack of keyboard and mouse support. Xbox Cloud Gaming only allows gamepads and touch controls for now, but that is set to change soon. Microsoft Flight Simulator head Jorg Neumann revealed mouse and keyboard control is coming to the Xbox Cloud Gaming service.

He added that, “This is platform-level support, so it has nothing to do with us. Obviously, mouse and keyboard works for our sim. So the platform team is working on this. I know I can’t give a date because it’s the platform team. I don’t know their dates, but it’s coming”. This means that in theory, any Xbox cloud game can support mouse and keyboard control, once Microsoft introduces the capability.
Keyboard And Mouse Support For Xbox Cloud Gaming Could Arrive This Summer
Neumann isn’t sure of the dates, but he guesses it could arrive this summer. He said, “I would say it’s in the next months, it’s not weeks, and it might be… I’m hoping it will be done by June or so, but I can’t ever tell. Everybody wants it, I want it, and so… it’s coming”. The Flight Simulator boss added that the game might also get support for touch and gyro control.
An Xbox representative told The Verge:
At launch, “Microsoft Flight Simulator” supports standard controller inputs for cloud gaming. The team is experimenting with touch/gyro and is excited to embrace M&K once it’s available on the platform but we have no specific announcements or timing to share at this time.
Keyboard and mouse controls would be great additions to Xbox Cloud Gaming, since you won’t need to buy a gamepad to enjoy your favourite games.
