After a wait of more than two months, Xiaomi finally announced the Xiaomi 12 series smartphones in the global markets. The series includes three models—the regular Xiaomi 12, the 12 Pro, and the entry-level 12X. All three smartphones will be making their way into different markets, starting with Europe this month. The main highlight of the Xiaomi 12 series smartphones is their improved optics performance, along with a more refined design language.

The phone comes with a 6.28-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel has a peak brightness of 1100nits and gets Dolby Vision, HDR10+ certification, and Gorilla Glass Victus for improved protection. The phone is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G SoC and has 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS3.1 internal storage. The phone runs on Android 12 with MIUI 13 right out of the box.
In terms of optics, the phone gets a triple camera setup on the rear with the main 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor plus OIS, which is coupled with a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5MP telemacro camera. On the front, the handset has a 32MP sensor for selfies. The phone has an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, an infrared sensor, NFC, Harman Kardon tuned speakers and other features. The Xiaomi 12 is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is the top-tier model in the lineup and gains some features over the vanilla Xiaomi 12. For starters, this model comes packed with a 6.73-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel here retains Dolby Vision, HDR10+ certification, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The phone is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G SoC and has up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS3.1 internal storage. It comes with Android 12 and MIUI 13 on top.
In terms of cameras, the Xiaomi 12 Pro also gets a triple setup on the rear with a Sony IMX766 sensor, which is coupled with a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide-angle sensor and another 50MP JN1 sensor with a 2X Portrait lens. The phone also packs a 32MP sensor on the front for selfies. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is powered by a 4,600mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 12X is the cheapest model in the lineup and packs a 6.28-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and has up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS3.1 internal storage. It also comes with Android 12 and MIUI 13 on top right out of the box.

The Xiaomi 12X starts at $649 (₹49,600 approx.) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage option. The Xiaomi 12 starts at $749 (₹57,500 approx.) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage option, while the Xiaomi 12 Pro starts at $999 (₹76,600 approx.) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage model. These phones will soon roll out in a staged manner in several countries in Asia and Europe.
