Readers must know that Qualcomm has not been too consistent with its nomenclatures lately, so the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 moniker is a mere placeholder for now. In any case, the leak suggests that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will feature the next-gen flagship offering by Qualcomm.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra (with the model number Xiaomi 2206122SC) has been spotted by the tipster on one of the Chinese telecom regulatory bodies and is said to be powered by an unnamed Qualcomm SM8475 chipset. For reference, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor has the model number SM8450, therefore it is safe to assume that the SM8475 will be a Pro/Plus variant, which is tipped to be manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm process.

If this leak is indeed legitimate, we should not really be expecting the Xiaomi 12 Ultra to launch soon, as the Plus variants of Qualcomm’s flagship processors usually arrive sometime in the second half of every year. In all likelihood, we can expect the Xiaomi 12 Ultra to launch in Q3 or Q4 2022.
