Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecasts that Apple’s desktop Mac portfolio for 2022 will consist solely of an updated Mac mini with a new display, with the rumoured Mac Pro and iMac Pro arriving in 2023. The company has its “Peek Performance” event scheduled for March 8, where it is reported to unveil the new iPhone SE 3. If the report is to be believed, there won’t be any new iMacs arriving but we could see a new Mac mini with a 27-inch display at the event.
Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Apple products, and everything we know so far.
New Mac mini And 27-inch Display Scheduled To Arrive This Year
Analyst Kuo made a few predictions for Apple’s new desktop products in a tweet. According to the two-line prediction, the hardware in 2022 will include a more powerful Mac mini along with a more economical external display. However, he claims that the iMac Pro and Mac Pro improvements will not appear until 2023. The display is likely to be introduced during Apple’s announcement on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
According to display analyst Ross Young, Kuo’s prediction that Apple will not offer an iMac Pro until next year is inaccurate. Young has stated that an iMac Pro might be released as early as June this year. Apple’s upcoming Mac mini is said to have a revamped design and be powered by in-house chipsets.
The currently available 27-inch Intel-based iMac is said to be replaced by the iMac Pro. Young says that the iMac Pro will have mini-LEDs, and prior speculations suggest that the design will be identical to the 24-inch model. Given Apple’s previously declared timeline to migrate all of its devices within two years, the 2023 roadmap for the iMac Pro and Mac Pro is a bit of a letdown.
However, there is no word on when these new Apple goods will be unveiled; it might be at the Peek Performance event or at a later date this year.
