The 5G auction in India was concluded recently, with the government receiving bids worth ₹1,50,173 crores. Now that the auction has finally ended, Airtel has revealed details about the launch of its 5G services. According to the telco, the Airtel 5G coverage will roll out across the country later this month. The carrier has partnered with Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung to enable the 5G services. While the telco already had partnerships with Ericsson and Nokia, Airtel will be teaming up with Samsung from this year.

The telco has managed to spend a total of ₹43,084 crores in the latest bidding. The company has acquired a total of 19.8GHz spectrum by securing a pan India footprint of 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz bands and has secured the rights for the next 20 years.

The telecom company says that as it has a choice of multiple partners which will enable them to roll out 5G services spanning ultra-high-speeds, low latency, and large data handling capabilities. Meanwhile, Ericsson will provide 5G connectivity in 12 circles for Airtel. The company will deploy its 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products and solutions from the Ericsson Radio System and Ericson microwave mobile transport solution.

Our network agreements are finalized and Airtel will work with the best technology partners from across the world to deliver the full benefits of 5G connectivity to our consumers. India’s transition into a digital economy will be led by telecom and 5G presents a game-changing opportunity to drive the digital transformation of industries, enterprises and the socio-economic development of India.”
