During the WWDC 2022, Apple announced many products and features, including the latest iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS Ventura, new MacBooks, and a new Apple M2 chipset. Alongside these, there were several other noteworthy changes that Apple showcased, including a revamped Home app for the HomeKit smart home platform.
According to the iPhone maker, the Home app has been rebuilt from the ground up. Let’s take a look at what has been changed with the Apple Home app this time around.
Apple Home App Completely Redesigned
Apple’s new Home App, has been rebuilt from scratch, will arrive with iOS 16 later this year. According to Apple, the new Home App will be more efficient and reliable, especially for homes which have a lot of smart accessories. The new Home App will support the latest Matter smart-home technology standard.
The app’s navigation has been revamped, which will now make it easier to find, organize, and control the smart devices. Additionally, Apple has added a new Categories section for climate, lights, speakers and TVs, and security, which will mean that users will now have a single place to access all the above-mentioned devices.

A new multi-camera view has also been introduced, which will show up to four security cameras on the main Home tab. The UI is now more horizontal-scroll-dominant, which will make it simpler to find what you want.
Additionally, the Accessory tiles will now use shape and colour to indicate the device’s status. The accessories can now be controlled through the icon. This will give users more granular control over the accessories.

As mentioned earlier, the new Home App will be made available to the public alongside the upcoming iOS 16 this fall. The developer builds, and the public beta builds, however, won’t let you wait for that long.
