The Apple iPhone 14 is reported to launch in a few months, and there’s no dearth of rumours and speculations surrounding the upcoming iPhone. Now, a fresh report claims that this year’s iPhone 14 series could see a significant increase in price.
Supply Chain Issues Could Affect iPhone 14 Price
As per a Bloomberg report, a company that supplies materials for Apple’s main chip maker TSMC predicts that iPhones will see a major price hike. Japanese chemical supplier Showa Denko K.K says, “A big theme this year common to all the players in the materials industry is how much cost burden we’d be able to convince customers to share with us. The current market moves require us to ask twice the amount we had previously calculated.”
Chief Financial Officer Hideki Somemiya stated that there have already been many hikes this year owing to factors such as COVID-19 affecting the supply chain. Moreover, the yen’s poor performance and increasing energy costs due to the Ukraine war have added to the company’s woes. Somemiya does not see the situation improving until at least 2023.
