Apple iPhone 14 Pro With A16 Processor, 48MP Camera Launched: Specifications, Price

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro was finally launched today at the company’s Far Out event. The new smartphone gets a new design on the front, featuring a different display cutout, making it discernible from its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro. It also comes with a more power-efficient display, a faster processor, improved cameras, satellite connectivity for emergencies, and longer battery life.

The iPhone 14 Pro is set to compete against the likes of the Google Pixel 7, Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, and the Samsung Galaxy S22. Apple’s new phone is equipped with the A16 Bionic processor, a new 48MP primary camera, and an OLED display with Always-On Display mode.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro: Features, Specifications

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro sports a 6.1-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and a pill-shaped cutout (for Face ID and front-facing camera). Apple is calling this pill-shaped display cutout as Dynamic Island, and it can display ongoing events like music playback, sports scores, and cab status. Thanks to the new Always-On Display mode, the iPhone 14 Pro can display time, date, and other information even when the display is in sleep mode.

Apple has made the iPhone 14 Pro’s frame using stainless steel, just like its predecessor. The phone’s front and rear are protected by scratch-resistant glass. The phone is also IP68-rated, making it dust and water-resistant (6 metres, up to 30 minutes). The device is available in four colours: Deep Purple, Gold, Silver, and Space Black.

One of the biggest upgrades for the iPhone 14 Pro is in the camera department. Apple has upgraded the primary camera with a 48MP camera sensor. It features dual-pixel autofocus and OIS. Meanwhile, the 12MP ultrawide camera is also getting a new sensor, featuring 1.4µm pixels (upgraded from the iPhone 13 Pro’s 1µm pixels) and autofocus. Additionally, the iPhone 14 Pro comes with a 12MP telephoto camera, featuring 3x optical zoom and OIS. The phone has a LiDAR sensor, too.

All these cameras offer improved image quality, even in low-light conditions. They can record up to 4K 60fps videos. Apple has also added Action Mode for even more stable video recording. In this mode, the iPhone 14 Pro can record up to 2.8K videos at 60fps. It can record Cinematic Videos at 4K 30fps, ProRES videos at 4K 30fps, Dolby Vision HDR video recording at 4K 60fps, and slow-motion videos at up to 1080p 240fps. Night Mode timelapse videos and macro videos can be captured as well.

On the front, Apple is continuing to use a 12MP camera However, it now features autofocus. Like before, there is up to 4K 60fps video recording. It can also capture Full HD 120fps slow-motion videos.

The iPhone 14 Pro is equipped with Apple’s A16 Bionic processor. It is made using TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process and features a faster CPU and a more powerful GPU. However, it remains to be seen how it performs in the real world. The chipset is accompanied by 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB of internal NVMe storage.

As for the battery, the iPhone 14 Pro packs a 3,200mAh battery, offering a slightly longer battery life. It features 27W fast wired charging, 15W MagSafe wireless charging, and 7.5W Qi wireless charging. The device still features a Lightning port for charging and data transfer, and Apple hasn’t upgraded its phones with a USB Type-C port. The phone also features the Crash Detection feature and sends emergency messages to family, friends, and emergency services.

The iPhone 14 Pro is getting a new 5G modem, which offers faster downlink and uplink speeds and consumes less power. Other connectivity features include a Nano SIM card slot, dual eSIM support, dual-frequency GPS, 5G (sub-6GHz and mmWave), Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, UWB, and NFC. Furthermore, the iPhone 14 Pro is also getting a satellite connectivity feature called Emergency SOS via Satellite. It can connect to emergency services via text messages even when there’s no cellular network connectivity.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro: Price In India, Availability 

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro pricing starts at ₹1,29,900 for the 128GB version and goes as high as ₹1,79,900 for the 1TB version. The new iPhone will be available for pre-order starting September 09, 2022, and will go on sale from September 16, 2022.
