Apple, undaunted by the global chip crisis and rumoured weak demand for its latest iPhone 13 series of smartphones, is believed to launch a slew of new products in 2022. At least, so it appears, if you were to believe Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s findings of Apple’s upcoming projects. According to him, the American tech giant is gearing up to launch refreshed versions of the entry-level iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro for 2022.
Gurman’s report suggests that Apple’s new iPads for 2022 will sport LCDs, shooting down previous rumours of the company adopting superior OLED display tech for its latest iPads. You can expect them to inherit similar display characteristics or features, as Apple likes to call them, such as ‘Jelly Scroll’ from the recently launched iPad Mini or the ‘blooming’ artefacts from the iPad Pro’s Mini-LED display. The entry-level iPad 2021 came out with some comprehensive updates like a more powerful chipset, TrueTone, and an improved front camera. Hence, the chances of a major overhaul for 2022 are pretty slim. However, the iPad Pro is set to receive a design update and added support of wireless charging. Apple is also said to be working on an AirPower like Long-Range wireless charging solution.

According to MacRumors, it could sport a larger 27-inch Mini-LED display and could be powered by its M1 Pro/ M1 Max chipsets from the MacBook Pro or the upcoming Apple M2 chip. The MacBook will receive a complete design overhaul and may come with the Apple M2 under its hood.
Apple is reportedly cutting down the production of its iPhone 13 series of smartphones by 10 million units from its initial goal of 90 million units. It is still unknown whether it could be due to the ongoing chip shortage or due to the lower aspirational value of the iPhone 13 series. Gurman reports that the company is already working on its iPhone 14 line-up of smartphones, and hopefully, it matches the expectations in 2022.
Lastly, in the wearables department, Apple is expected to release new AirPods Pro wireless earphones. There could be three new Apple watches, which includes an updated vanilla variant, a rugged variant, and a new Apple Watch SE. That’s not all, the much speculated Apple’s first attempt at ‘Mixed Reality headset with Wi-Fi 6E could finally see the light of day in 2022.
