The worsening chip shortages prompted Asus and other graphics card manufacturers to hike their prices last year. Asus has now announced that it is planning to lower the official price of its RTX 30-series cards from April 1, 2022. This could come as a relief to those who have been holding off on buying a graphics card on account of the skyrocketing prices.
The entry-level GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3060, mid-range RTX 3070 and high performance RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics cards will see price cuts. Asus noted that this change was brought about due to the revised US tariffs for Chinese imports. However, the company didn’t talk about changes in demand or supply of graphics cards. Most notably, it said that prices of different graphics card models could fall by as much as 25 percent this spring.

The manufacturer added, “Asus is among the first to pass these savings on to its consumers. Lower prices will affect entry level GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3060, mid-range RTX 3070 and high performance RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics cards. Consumers should expect prices to decline up to 25 percent on different models throughout the springtime”.
This will come as a respite to consumers who have had a hard time getting their hands on GPUs for the past couple of years. Hopefully, other manufacturers could follow suit and make cards more affordable for end users.
