Back in December 2021, Taiwanese smartphone maker Asus rolled out the stable Android 12 software update for the ASUS Zenfone 8 and the Zenfone 8Z. Now, ASUS has started rolling out the stable Android 12 update to its flagship 2020 devices, the ASUS Zenfone 7 (ZS670KS) and the Zenfone 7 Pro (ZS671KS). The company took to its community forum to announce the Android 12 release for the Zenfone 7 series.

The new software update also adds an adjusted Quick Settings panel, notification tray, and volume panel. Moreover, the update includes other Android 12 features such as privacy dashboard, camera and microphone indicators, approximate location access, and microphone access indicator.
With the new software release, the Zenfone 7 Series gain a charging animation. Additionally, the company has replaced the ASUS Safeguard feature with the stock Emergency SOS.

- Upgraded system to Android 12.
- Revamped Mobile Manager, Contacts, Phone, File Manager, Calculator, Clock, Gallery, Weather, Sound recorder, Settings, Data Transfer, Local backup, Setup wizard, System update apps.
- Adjusted Quick Settings panel, notification tray, and volume panel to Android 12 design.
- Added privacy dashboard, camera and microphone indicators, show clipboard access, approximate location access, and microphone access features.
- Replaced ASUS Safeguard with stock Emergency SOS.
- Introduced the new widget page design in Launcher. Adjusted the position of the screenshot option and removed the hotseat app icons in the Overview page.
- Removed the Quick Settings layout option in the Display settings.
- ASUS Phone removed SIP calling support.
- Added system charging animation.
- Merge WiFi and mobile network options to Internet settings.
As usual, the Android 12 update for the Zenfone 7 and the Zenfone 7 Pro is rolling out in batches. We can expect the broader release of the update in the coming few days or weeks. You can head over to System updates in Settings > System to check if the newest firmware is available on your Zenfone 7 or Zenfone 7 Pro unit.
