Further, the state-run telco is said to go for indigenous 5G infrastructure as well. The company will be launching 5G over the 4G core, which means that it will utilize 5G NSA technology to launch 5G services in India. However, the company will need 4G infrastructure in order to achieve the same. Hence, it will focus on building its 4G infrastructure in the country in 2022.
The report further suggests that BSNL will first launch its 4G network in places such as Maharashtra and Kerala. By August 2022, the company will start testing 4G networks in four districts of Kerala. By the end of this year, we can expect the telco to have a country-wide 4G network, and in 2023, we might get to see BSNL 5G services in India.
