Meta’s Facebook Messenger announced some new features for its end-to-end encrypted chats. However, you will have to manually opt in to access the feature. It is to be noted that Meta-owned WhatsApp has end-to-end encryption enabled by default. End-to-end encrypted chats get various features such as screenshot notifications, stickers, gifs, typing indicators, message forwarding, and more.

Vanish mode will let you swipe up on an ongoing chat, and when you close the window, the chat will automatically disappear. This option can be enabled by switching on the lock icon when you initiate a new conversation.
Additionally, you can also use GIFs and stickers while chatting on end-to-end encrypted conversations. You can use reactions by tapping and holding on an encrypted message, which will cause a reactions tray to pop up. End-to-end encrypted chats gain other features such as replying to specific messages, typing indicators, and message forwarding. Furthermore, encrypted chats will also get the verified badge which will help you identify authentic accounts. It will also allow you to save videos and images and even let you edit videos.

You can also safeguard yourself from mischievous friends wishing to save your spicy conversations “for posterity” via screenshots. You will get a notification if anybody attempts to screenshot your disappearing messages. Facebook’s vanishing mode also has this feature.
