A month after its previous update, Google is releasing version 8.6 of the Pixel Camera app, which includes a number of Material You improvements. The “Modes” option at the bottom of the carousel has undergone the most significant cosmetic modification. Instead of being immediately superimposed on the live preview, the buttons for Panorama, Photo Sphere, and Lens are now positioned in a rounded rectangular container and moved down for easy accessibility.

The new version is not yet being widely distributed through the Play Store, which is the typical mechanism by which Google apps are updated.
Instead of being plain black on a white backdrop, the buttons are now themed with Dynamic Colors, like other important UI components such as the mode switcher and Locked Folder shortcut.

The most recent update interval between version 8.4 and 8.5 was just under two months. Therefore, this release is surely arriving sooner than anticipated. Although Frequent Faces is currently inactive, it probably also contains bug fixes.
