WhatsApp Unlimited Storage For Backups Could Soon Be Limited

While Google has not been very generous with providing free storage to its users, it is now planning to limit the storage allocation for WhatsApp backups as well. As per a new finding by WABetaInfo, Google might soon limit its Google Drive storage allocation for WhatsApp backups. To date, users were getting unlimited storage in Google Drive for WhatsApp backup, but this update would definitely cause them some trouble.

WhatsApp provides backup support for both iOS and Android users. At present, Android users get unlimited Google Drive storage for backing up their data. However, with Google planning on limiting the storage space on drive, backing up data could pose a problem to users. While there is no information about the exact storage limit to be provided on Google Drive, this could be over the existing 15GB free storage available.

A few months ago, the WhatsApp tipster reported about the upcoming feature that would let users exclude certain file types from being backed up to manage their WhatsApp backup size. Users can skip certain photos, documents, and videos to save some storage space.

Earlier, Google stopped offering unlimited backups for photos to charge people for Google One plans. And now, it goes after another benefit, which was using unlimited Google Drive backups for WhatsApp. The company might soon reveal details regarding the free limit for uploading your content on the cloud.
