The Google Photos app for Android and iOS has been redesigned to make it easier for users to browse, share, and import photos. Google will start rolling out new updates to provide users with more options to manage their photos and videos backed up on the app. New features include a revamped Library tab, a new Import Photos button, and sections for partner sharing.
Let us check out the new features of the redesigned Google Photos app and find out how they work.
Google Photos Gets Simplified Design, New Features
Google has introduced a host of new features to the Google Photos app to make it convenient for users to sort through their albums, import photos and videos saved somewhere else, access shared content, and to find screenshots.
Besides bringing in a fresh new design for the app, the new updates include a revamped Library with more options to locate photos and albums. The interface has been redesigned to show a two-column grid and a list based on your sorting selection. The new design will let you filter quickly by type: albums, shared albums, favourites, or on-device folders.
Further, the app will get a new Import Photos button to let you import both physical and digital photos and videos. Pressing the button will open a new page to assist you with transferring photos from Digital cameras or other cloud-based storage services, adding them from local storage, or scanning them with your phone.
The redesign will also add sections for Partner Sharing at the top, followed by Shared Albums, Conversations, and Links. According to Google, more defined sections will make it easier to find, view, and manage your shared photos and videos, and stay up to date, so you never miss the latest memories.

Last but not least, you will get a New Shortcut on the top of the main photo grid to let you quickly access your most recent screenshots. Additionally, you will get editing suggestions alongside options, such as copy text, crop, and search with google Lens, while viewing a screenshot.
New features will start rolling out to Android users over the next few weeks. iOS devices are expected to receive the Google Photos update shortly after. However, there is no clear timeline for the release of the new Library and screenshot shortcut feature.
