Earlier this year, Google hinted at the debut of the Pixel 7 series at their yearly developer conference, Google I/O 2022. Today, Google officially unveiled the newest smartphone series in all major markets, including India. For months, there have been speculations about the specs of both the smartphones, but there was no word on the pricing. After a three-year hiatus, Google is returning to the Indian market with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, two of its premium products, in the hopes of making a mark in the already crowded smartphone industry.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 7 Pro is available in the Obsidian, Hazel, and Snow colour options, with the sole 128GB priced at ₹84,999. Both the handsets are up for pre-order on Flipkart starting today with open sales commencing from October 13, 2022. As part of launch offers, Google is offering a 10% instant discount (₹10,000 for Pixel 7 and ₹11,250 for Pixel 7 Pro) to HDFC Bank customers, a free 6-months screen replacement, and the Fitbit Inspire 2 at a discounted price of ₹4,999.
Google Pixel 7 And Pixel 7 Pro Specifications
The Pixel 7 has a smaller 6.32-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz, while the bigger Pixel 7 Pro packs a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ OLED panel with a variable refresh rate between 10-120Hz. These displays offer a 25% increase in peak brightness over the previous model. Both of the handsets are powered by Google’s newest Tensor G2 SoC along with the Titan M2 Security chip.
The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro’s frames are constructed of zirconia-blasted matte aluminium and polished aluminium respectively, both of which are recyclable materials. Also included are Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and back for added protection and IP68 certifications for dust and water resistance.
On the optics front, both the phones feature a 50-megapixel camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, while the Pixel 7 Pro has an autofocus ultrawide camera with the macro option, and also a 48MP telephoto camera with support for 5x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom compared to 4x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom on the Pixel 6 Pro. Additionally, the Pixel 7 series now get 10.8MP front-facing cameras with a new depth mapping algorithm to implement Face Unlock and better-looking selfies.
The Pixel 7 series also comes with Photo Unblur, Cinematic Blur for portrait videos, 10-bit HDR video recording that is compatible with Snap, TikTok, and YouTube, Android 13 out of the box with 3 years of OS upgrades, and guaranteed security updates for five years. While the Pixel 7 gets a 4,355mAh battery, the Pixel 7 Pro has a sizable 5,000mAh battery that supports both 30W wired fast charging and wireless charging.
