FaceTime now supports Handoff in iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura, allowing FaceTime calls to be switched from one device to another. If you get a FaceTime call on your iPhone while you’re out and about, you can answer it right away and then switch to the Mac’s larger screen when you get home. Alternatively, you can take a call on your Mac and then transfer it to your iPhone or iPad for a more portable FaceTime experience.

Apple is also adding Live Captions to FaceTime, which allows you to see automatically transcribed dialogue during FaceTime sessions. Live captions are only possible on iPhone 11 and later models, iPads with A12 Bionic and later models, and Macs with Apple silicon.
Apple is also adding a “Collaboration” option that may be engaged during a FaceTime call to go along with these new features. Files, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, Notes, Reminders, and Safari are among the apps that can be used to collaborate during an active FaceTime session. Collaboration will also be supported through third-party apps.
