Buying a laptop is a big and long term investment. Laptops are usually more expensive than an equally powerful desktop computer, so spending a bit more on buying the right laptop warranty plan does make complete sense. You can opt for an extended warranty or damage protection plan and minimize the unplanned repair expenses after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. Electronic devices, especially laptops usually come with 1 or 2 years of manufacturer’s warranty, which doesn’t cover every defect. This is why we recommend buying a suitable laptop warranty plan, which starts immediately after the expiry of the manufacturer’s warranty. If you’ve recently bought a Lenovo laptop, here’s what you need to know…
A Suitable Lenovo Warranty Plan
For your laptop warranty you could choose the Lenovo 2 Year Extended Warranty plan that covers all the hardware defects that arise after the warranty period. This plan can either be purchased with the laptop or anytime before the manufacturer’s warranty expires. The plan is available for a maximum of 3 years, depending on the original warranty period. For instance, if the laptop warranty is under the 1 year manufacturer’s warranty period, you have the option of buying the 2 years extended warranty plan. The Lenovo Extended Warranty plan starts as soon as the warranty expires. Apart from the Lenovo Extended Warranty, it also offers the 1 Year Accidental Damage Protection plan. This plan gives you the peace of mind to know your investment is protected from the hassles of unexpected repairs and expenses. It covers any structural damage to your laptop by accidental drops, spills, electrical surges or failure of the screen.

Lenovo does not offer 1 Year plans but only offers the 2 Years Lenovo Extended Warranty plan for laptops. The 2 Years Lenovo Extended Warranty plan for mid-range laptops costs about Rs 4,499. (Prices vary depending on the price of the laptop). The Lenovo warranty plan price listed above is valid only when purchased at least 30 days before the manufacturer’s warranty expires. The Lenovo 1 Year Accidental Damage Protection plan on the other hand, is either available in the ‘festive offer’ by Lenovo or is priced at Rs 1,290 if purchased from an authorized Lenovo Dealer. This plan needs to be purchased anytime within 90 days of buying the laptop. Lenovo also offers at-home service called the Onsite Warranty. If your laptop needs repair during the Lenovo plan period, all you need to do is raise a service request and Lenovo sends a professional engineer home from the Lenovo service center to repair the laptop. The at-home service is inclusive of the plan price.
The Lenovo Extended Warranty plan offers a cashless service. You just need to pay once, at the time of buying the plan. One minus point about the Lenovo warranty plan is that Lenovo assures its customers of a prompt service but does not give complete service assurance. This means, there’s no guarantee that the laptop will be repaired.
Onsitego Also Offers Laptop Warranty Plans
Onsitego too has suitable plans for your laptop warranty: Onsitego Extended Warranty and Onsitego Spills and Drops Protection Plan. The Onsitego Extended Warranty Plan is similar to the Lenovo Extended Warranty Plan but is available for 1 and 2 years separately. It starts from as low as Rs 1,399, depending on the price of the laptop. The Onsitego 1 year Spills & Drops Protection Plan / Damage Protection Plan covers both, physical and liquid damage and starts from Rs 1,999, depending on the price of the laptop.
Onsitego Extended Warranty can be purchased within 6 months from the date of purchase of the device and it starts as soon as the manufacturer’s warranty ends. The Spills and Drops Protection Plan needs to be purchased the same day you buy the device. The plans are similar to the Lenovo plans in terms of the quality of coverage but an advantage with the Onsitego plans is its plan price, which is more economical and offers hassle-free service with free pick and drop. All the repairs are done at brand authorised service centers only. For eg; in this case from the Lenovo service center since it’s a Lenovo laptop.
