HP Elite Dragonfly G3 Brings Taller Screen, 12th Gen Intel Processors, More Ports

HP showcased its refreshed Elite Dragonfly Windows and Chrome OS-powered laptops at CES 2022. Now, after a few weeks, we finally have the details of the new Elite Dragonfly G3 laptops. This is the third generation of the Elite Dragonfly series and brings some comprehensive upgrades. The Elite Dragonfly was a hot-seller in the business category owing to its premium design, convertible option, and lightweight nature. The Elite Dragonfly G3, however, takes a different approach as it ditches the convertible design for a conventional clamshell design, features a taller aspect ratio, and is powered by Intel’s 12th Generation processors. 

HP Elite Dragonfly G3 Features, Specifications

The HP Dragonfly G3 sports a 13.5-inch display and has adopted the taller 3:2 aspect ratio against the 16:9 aspect ratio for better productivity. It comes with a 1920 x 1280 pixels screen resolution. There’s another variant with an OLED screen, which gets 3000 x 2000 pixels resolution. HP says that the taller display aids in efficient multi-tasking and has also enabled the company to cram in a larger touchpad. HP’s popular Spectre x360 also carries the same 3:2 aspect ratio.  

Addressing the elephant in the room, the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 isn’t a convertible laptop anymore. Now it is a clamshell-only laptop, and so it doesn’t include the touchscreen on standard variants. The OLED variants come with a touchscreen, but the fact that you can’t use it as a tablet, kind of defeats its purpose. The notebook is made out of magnesium and aluminium, just like its predecessor. Despite the bigger chassis and taller screen, the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 manages to weigh similar to the older G2 notebooks. 

The new G3 will be powered by Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake processors. The laptops will come in variants equipped with up to 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage. Other features include USB-C ports, fingerprint reader, 5MP webcam, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack etc.

HP Elite Dragonfly G3 Price, Availability

The HP Elite Dragonfly Elite G3 comes in a new Slate Blue shade as opposed to the Dragonfly Blue that was previously available. You can also opt for a Natural Silver colour option. The new G3 laptops are expected to go on sale in March via HP’s website.
