Notably, new video posts that are less than 15 minutes long will be shared as reels. Instagram will be rolling out this feature in the coming weeks. The company adds that older videos will remain untouched and will not be converted to reels.
Meanwhile, short 90-second reels may be more discoverable for users with public accounts. The video and reels tab will be merged into a single tab on your profile.
New Tools For Remix On Instagram
Remix will be getting more tools, offering you new ways to create stories on Instagram by teaming up with friends and other creators. With the latest update, you will be able to remix your photos to create reels. You can also have your remix clip appear after the original, instead of playing both videos alongside each other. Additionally, you will get new remix layouts—horizontal or vertical split-screen, green screen, or picture-in-picture reaction. This will give you new ways of adding your video comments on existing reels.
Templates For Instagram Reels
If you’re running out of ideas for reels, Instagram has a new feature that will get you out of your creative rut. The templates option, as the name suggests, offers templates which can be modified by adding your own photos or videos. The feature can be found by selecting the camera icon in the reels tab.
Another new function coming to the app allows you to record videos as well as your reaction simultaneously. This can be done by utilising your phone’s front and back cameras via the Dual function in the Instagram camera.
