iOS 16 promises a variety of features for the iPhone, such as custom lock screens, improved Focus modes, an iCloud Shared Photos Library for families, significant improvements to Mail and Wallet apps, and more. That’s not all, the next-gen iOS will also help you deal with duplicate contacts that litter your Contacts app.

With the upcoming update, the Contacts app will automatically detect if duplicate contacts exist. It will then inform you that duplicates were found.
With iOS 16, you will be able to view the “Duplicates Found” interface at the top of the app. It gives you the option to either merge or ignore all. If you choose the former, the duplicate contact cards will be merged into a single card.

Currently, there’s no way to eliminate duplicate contacts on your iPhone without going the manual route. A similar feature is available on the Mac, and will be coming soon to iPhones with iOS 16. The upcoming iOS has been rolling out to developers for beta testing. Apple says that the public beta will be released in July. This will be followed by a public rollout in fall.
