If you don’t know about iQOO already, let us introduce. It’s a smartphone sub-brand from Vivo, and it focuses on releasing value-for-money high-end smartphones that are focused on mobile gamers. The company’s new high-end smartphones—iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro—bring chart-topping features and specifications, including 120Hz refresh rate displays, extremely fast charging at up to 120W, and a brand new 50MP camera sensor. The phones also feature one of the fastest processors and the latest version of Android.
The iQOO 5 and the iQOO 5 Pro compete with the likes of the Black Shark 3S, OnePlus 8, OPPO Find X2, Realme X50 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Xiaomi Mi 10 series smartphones in terms of features and performance. However, both iQOO phones come with relatively affordable price tags. They are only available in China as of now, and it is possible that the company could launch them in India later this year. Let us have a detailed look at the design, features, and specifications of the iQOO 5 and the iQOO 5 Pro.
iQOO 5: Features, Specs
The iQOO 5 sports a 6.56-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+. It also features an under-display optical fingerprint reader. The phone runs Android 10-based iQOO UI 1.5 software interface and comes equipped with the Snapdragon 865 processor. The device also features 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In terms of imaging, the phone has a triple rear-facing camera setup consisting of a 50MP (Samsung ISOCELL GN1) wide-angle camera, a 13MP telephoto camera, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The 50MP camera (1/1.31-inch) features F1.9 aperture, dual-pixel autofocus, and 1.2µm pixels. The 13MP telephoto camera has an F2.5 aperture, 50mm lens, 2x optical zoom, and 0.8µm pixels. The 13MP ultrawide camera features a 1/4.0-inch sensor, 1.12µm pixels, F2.2 aperture, and 16mm lens. The primary camera can record 8K 30fps and 4K 30fps videos, while the other two cameras can record 4K 30fps videos. At the front, the iQOO 5 features a 16MP selfie camera with 1080p 30fps video recording.
In terms of connectivity, the iQOO 5 features 5G, dual-SIM card slot, A-GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It features a 4,500mAh battery and supports up to 55W fast wired charging. The phone’s battery can be charged from zero to full capacity in just 50 minutes. The iQOO 5 also features reverse wired charging and comes in two colours: Blue and Gray.
iQOO 5 Pro: Features, Specs
The iQOO 5 Pro is a beefed-up version of the iQOO 5, and it is also the company’s most high-end smartphone yet. The phone sports a metal-and-glass design and a 6.56-inch AMOLED display. The screen features Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ content playback compatibility. The iQOO 5 Pro, similar to the iQOO 5, has an in-display optical fingerprint reader. The device features a 4,000mAh battery that can be fast-charged with up to 120W of power via the bundled charger. Zero to 100% battery charging takes just 15 minutes. That’s crazy fast!
iQOO has equipped the iQOO 5 Pro with the Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB/12GB RAM, and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The phone also features dual-SIM card slot, 5G, A-GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It comes in two colours: black and white. The black version of the device comes with a BMW-inspired design with the iconic trio of colours and a racetrack-inspired strip at the rear of the phone.
The device has a 16MP front-facing camera with 1080p 30fps video recording. At the rear, the iQOO 5 Pro has a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP wide-angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The 50MP camera features OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, 1/1.31-inch sensor (Samsung ISOCELL GN1), and 1.2µm pixels. The 8MP camera is paired with a periscope-style optical zoom lens, OIS, F3.4 aperture, PDAF, and 135mm lens. The 13MP ultrawide-angle camera (1/4.0-inch sensor) has an F2.2 aperture, 120-degree wide-angle lens, and 1.12µm pixels.
iQOO 5, iQOO 5 Pro: Price
The iQOO 5 comes with a starting price of CNY 3,998 (around ₹43,095) in China for the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Its price goes as high as CNY 4,598 (around ₹49,562) for the variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The variant with 12GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at CNY 4,298 (around ₹46,329) in China.
The iQOO 5 Pro comes with a price tag of CNY 4,998 (around ₹53,874) for the variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The variant of the device with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage is priced at CNY 5,498 (around ₹59,264).
