The upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro devices with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are reportedly “well into development and testing,” says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He adds that the new models may even arrive later this year.
Gurman states in his “Power On” newsletter that the Cupertino-based tech giant could likely launch the MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips “as early as this fall.” However, he cautions that supply chain issues could delay the launch.

The M2 Pro and the M2 Max processors are reported to be built on the TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process. Gurman had earlier stated that the MacBook Pro based on the M2 Pro and the M2 Max processors will offer improved graphics performance. Furthermore, they will feature enhanced 4K video encoding and decoding capabilities and faster memory.
Compared to the previous generation of CPUs, the upcoming M2 Pro and M2 Max processors will bring improved single-core and multi-core performance. Synthetic benchmarks show that the current Apple M2 chip is faster than the M1 chip by roughly 12 percent in single-core operations and about 20 percent faster in multi-core operations.

Meanwhile, the design will not see a major overhaul and we expect the display to continue sporting a notch. It is rumoured that Apple’s upcoming Mac line-up may also include a new Mac mini powered by the latest M2 processor.
