Just last week, a picture of the front side of the Google Pixel Watch was leaked. While it confirmed past rumours of a bezel-less screen, it neither showed the back side nor the bands of the upcoming smartwatch. According to latest reports, more images have leaked, which appear to be the final pieces of the puzzle.
This weekend, an anonymous source sent pictures of the much-awaited Google Pixel Watch to Android Central. The smartwatch is reported to have been serendipitously found by the person at a restaurant in the US. According to the source, the wearable was accompanied by a box which said it was for “internal testing and development only”. Moreover, it said that the “markings and packaging are not final”. This implies that the final product may differ from the prototype.
Google Pixel Watch: Closer Look
The leaked photos of the Google Pixel Watch line up with past rumours. You can see that the physical crown is nestled between two buttons on the side of the watch. The images give us a look at the watch’s rear face which, according to the source, “looks metallic but feels like it’s coated with glass”.
Additionally, the person who seems to have forgotten this prototype at the restaurant also left behind a blue watch band. They appear to sport a set of grooves that could help snap them to the watch face.
There’s a hole under the crown which could be a microphone. The underside of the watch comprises a black frame with what appears to be a health-tracking sensor in the middle. It could likely include a heart-rate monitor, SpO2, and temperature sensors.
Although no charger accompanied the watch, the publication speculates that it could be charged from within the case. This could be similar to how the Fitbit Versa 3, Sense smartwatches, and the Apple Watch are charged.
Stunt By Google To Create A Buzz?
This turn of events is reminiscent of how the iPhone 4 was leaked back in 2010. Someone happened to find an iPhone prototype in a bar, which was then acquired by Gizmodo. The situation took a wild turn with US law enforcement authorities raiding the Gizmodo editor’s home.
Strangely, Google doesn’t seem to be interested in getting its prototype back yet. The Pixel Watch leaker, in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit, says that the tech giant hasn’t reached out to him yet. There’s a high chance that the firm could be trying to create a buzz around the Google Pixel Watch with leaks and sneak peeks.
