After scrapping the launch event on Aug 2, 2022, Motorola has finally introduced its new flagship foldable smartphone, the Moto Razr 2022, in China. It is a successor to the Moto Razr 2019 and arrives as a challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Moto Razr 2022 packs in a flat folding hinge, OLED panel, 144Hz refresh rate, 50MP primary camera, and fast charging support, among other features.
Moto Razr 2022: Price, Availability
The Moto Razr 2022 comes at a starting price of CNY 5,999 (approx. ₹70,600) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB variant. The handset is yet to be announced in the global market. There are chances that Motorola might bring it to the Indian market.
Moto Razr 2022: Features, Specifications
The Moto Razr 2022 gets an all-new design. It ditches the chin found in the previous iterations for a seamless all-screen design with minimum bezels. Motorola claims that its new hinge provides a gapless folding design and also minimises the display crease. Like Samsung’s Flex Mode, the Moto Razr 2022 can also be rested on a surface in a half-folded mode to take pictures and videos, perform multitasking, video call, and many more possibilities. The handset comes with a thickness of 7.62mm when unfolded and 16.99mm thickness when folded.

Suffice to say, it trumps the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 in the display specifications race. That’s not all, it even has a bigger 2.7-inch AMOLED cover screen with 800 x 573 pixels resolution as opposed to the 1.9-inch cover screen of Samsung’s Flip 4.
The older Moto Razr came with a mid-range chipset, but this time around Motorola has plonked in a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor in the Moto Razr 2022. Its chief rival, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, also comes with the same chipset. The device is equipped with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
In terms of optics, the Moto Razr 2022 races ahead of Samsung’s Flip device, at least on paper, as it gets a 50MP primary camera with OIS. It is accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide shooter with macro shooting capabilities. Selfie and video calling tasks are handled by the 32MP sensor housed in the punch-hole camera cutout on the top of the main screen.
Some other noteworthy features of the device include dual SIM, 5G support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port, among others. The smartphone gets a bigger 3,500mAh battery in this iteration and is backed by 33W fast charging support. The device runs on MyUI 4.0 on top of Android 12 OS.
