Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 Update Will Be Available In 2023

Nothing forayed into the smartphone segment with the Nothing Phone (1). The brand promised three Android version upgrades and four years of security patch updates for its first smartphone. After the release of the Android 13 stable version last week, a few Nothing Phone (1) users took to Twitter to enquire about the Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 update roll out timeline.

In response, Nothing founder Carl Pei, didn’t reveal anything about the Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 update roll out schedule, instead, he said, “A product is more than just its specs, features, and version numbers“. However, Folks over Android Authority reached out to Nothing and the brand has revealed that the Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 update will be rolled out in 2023. Take a look at Carl’s response below:

In a separate development, Nothing has revealed that the Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 update will not arrive this year, which might disappoint Nothing Phone (1) buyers. In fact, the Nothing Phone (1) falls in the premium mid-range segment and such update timelines might force prospective buyers to consider other alternatives.

In response to Android Authority, Nothing said that the update will be launched in the first half of 2023 as it wants to fine tune the software version with Nothing’s hardware. It is a bit surprising that the company plans to release the Android 13 update in 2023 considering the fact that the Nothing OS is pretty close to stock Android. Here’s what Nothing had to say:

We are always working hard to improve the Phone 1 user experience. To ensure this, operating system updates will be made available for regular download. In regards to Android 13, this will be launching for Phone 1 users in the first half of 2023. Before releasing, we want to fine tune the software upgrade with Nothing’s hardware. We will be sure to keep you updated with further information.
