Back in July 2021, OnePlus had announced that it is integrating OxygenOS with OPPO’s ColorOS. The Chinese firm had also confirmed that OnePlus-branded smartphones will continue to run OxygenOS globally. OnePlus had revealed that it is merging its R&D team with that of OPPO’s. Now, OnePlus has shed some light regarding the new merger.
As per the details shared by OnePlus through the official forum, OnePlus will unveil the new unified OS with OPPO next year. The new unified OS will run on OnePlus and OPPO smartphones. Apart from confirming these new details, OnePlus also has shared some details regarding its product portfolio and also has revealed that it won’t be launching its T-series smartphone – the OnePlus 9T this year.
OnePlus & OPPO To Launch Unified OS Next Year
OnePlus is dubbing the transition to Unified OS as ‘OnePlus 2.0′. The company also claims that its unified OS will be faster, smoother, and will offer the best experience combining features of both OxygenOS and ColorOS. Considering that OnePlus will be integrating the OxygenOS’ codebase with ColorOS’ codebase, this integration will reportedly help the company in delivering timely software updates.
OnePlus CEO also mentioned through a forum post that the company will continue to improve its cameras. In fact, camera quality will be the company’s highest priority. The Chinese smartphone maker will continue to focus on improving the camera’s colour performance with Hasselblad. It also plans to bring customised sensors and lenses to its smartphones.

OnePlus 9T Will Not Launch This Year
OnePlus also has shared some details regarding its product portfolio. It will continue to launch its premium smartphones globally, but the mid-range offering from the company will be more localised. OnePlus further claims that it will continue offering users a high-quality experience at multiple price points. OnePlus CEO has confirmed to The Verge in an interview that OnePlus won’t be launching the OnePlus 9T series smartphones this year. The brand believes that its current OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones are very powerful and “will remain competitive throughout the year.”
