POCO has added the latest POCO M5 smartphone to its lineup of M-series smartphones in India. It is a mid-range 4G smartphone and packs in an IPS LCD, 90Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, leather-like texture back panel, a MediaTek Helio processor, triple rear cameras, and IP52 splash resistance, among other features.

The top variant with 6GB RAM + 128GB comes with a price tag of ₹14,499. You can avail additional discounts on the devices during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale. Flipkart users can also spend Supercoins to get an extra ₹500 off. The smartphone will go on sale in India on September 13, 2022. It comes in Icy Blue, Power Black, and yellow colourways.
POCO M5: Features, Specifications
The POCO M5 flaunts a leather-like textured surface at the back. It comes with a signature POCO design and vibrant paint job. The smartphone is built entirely out of polycarbonate and comes with a huge glossy black camera island that houses the triple rear cameras and LED flash. The big “POCO” branding proudly sits on the camera island.
The POCO M5 sports a 6.58-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate for enhanced UI smoothness. The display gets a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Additionally, the smartphone comes with Widevine L1 certification for enhanced online video streaming.
The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, which is a refreshed version of the Helio G96, but is based on a significantly efficient 6nm fabrication process. This chipset made its debut in India with the Infinix Note 12 Pro smartphone and could feature in the Redmi 11 Prime 4G, which is set to launch tomorrow. The POCO M5 is equipped with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.
When it comes to cameras, there’s a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 primary sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP AI depth lens. For selfies and video shooting duties, it has an 8MP shooter housed in the waterdrop notch at the front.
Some noteworthy features of the POCO M5 include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Turbo RAM, IP52 splash resistance, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone is backed by a 5000mAh battery under its hood coupled with 18W fast charging support.
