Qualcomm has released a fresh teaser for the upcoming generation of wearable SoCs via their Snapdragon Twitter account. The post appears to be teasing the release of the hotly anticipated Wear 5100 platform.
The Wear 5100 platform is rumoured to be built on the 6nm process and is expected to bring significant gains in terms of performance and battery life. In contrast, the most recent Snapdragon Wear 4100+ is built on the 12nm process and features a new co-processor to assist with additional background duties, such as sensor input and sound.

This new Snapdragon processor will debut as the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 series is getting closer to release. Moreover, the Pixel Watch will make its formal debut only a few weeks from now. In an effort to compete with the Apple Watch, Google has thrown its full weight behind the revival of the Wear OS, partnering with Samsung and acquiring Fitbit.

So far, we only know that Qualcomm will release a new wearable chip. Until Qualcomm makes an official announcement, we won’t know which OEMs will adopt it, when it will hit the market, or its specifications.
