Redmi has launched a new entry-level A-series smartphone, dubbed the Redmi A1, in India today. The new Redmi smartphone is targeted towards an audience who wants to upgrade from a feature phone to an Android Operating System. The Redmi A1 offers an HD+ display, a MediaTek Helio A22 processor, a dual-camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery, among other features. The Redmi A1 price in India is set at ₹6,499 for the single 2GB + 32B storage variant. The smartphone comes in three colour options—black, green, and blue. It will go on sale starting from September 9, 2022 in the country. Interested buyers can purchase the handset via Mi.com, Mi Home Stores, Amazon India, and various retail outlets.

In terms of specifications, the Redmi A1 features a 6.52-inch LCD panel that offers an HD+ resolution and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The display also houses a waterdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera. The smartphone is powered by an entry-level MediaTek Helio A22 processor, which is paired with 2GB of RAM and 32B of internal storage. The internal storage is further expandable via a microSD card.

In terms of software, the Redmi A1 4G will run on Android 12 Go Edition out of the box. For photography, the smartphone features a dual-camera setup including an 8MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, the device relies on a 5MP front camera. When it comes to the battery, the Redmi A1 is powered by a 5,000mAh unit with 10W charging support.

Other primary features on the new Redmi device include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Bluetooth. As for the box contents, the company is providing a charger inside the box.
