Reliance has announced the date of its Annual General Meeting (AGM). The telco has revealed that the 45th AGM will be held on August 29, 2022. The event is expected to include the announcement of its 5G rollout, the new Jio Phone 5G, and much more. To recall, the 44th AGM which took place last year saw the announcement of the JioPhone Next. Additionally, the company’s solar and new energy business was also announced at the meeting. This year, as India’s 5G launch date approaches, Reliance will likely reveal more details about its own 5G plans.

The company has spent ₹88,078 crores and acquired a total of 24.7 GHz of spectrum in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz bands. Union Cabinet Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has also confirmed that 5G network will be made available in tier-1 cities by October.
In its annual report, Reliance also revealed its plans for the 5G rollout. The company will soon launch 5G services in 22 cities in the first phase, and then in 1000 cities. Apart from the 5G rollout plans, Reliance might also share some details about the Jio Phone 5G at the AGM.
According to a past leak, the upcoming Jio Phone 5G will reportedly feature a 6.5-inch display with a HD+ 1600 x 720 pixel resolution. The device is expected to come equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. It is also believed to have microSD card support for storage expansion. The phone might boot a customized Android 12 software version which could include Google Assistant support, read-aloud text feature, instant translation via Google Lens, and Google Translate.
