Samsung’s latest Galaxy S22 series of flagship smartphones brought advanced camera features when it launched in February this year. Now, some of them will trickle down to select Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy Note smartphones. These updates were brought to light via Samsung’s South Korean forum. Do note that users in South Korea are set to receive these updates first. They might roll out to other regions later.
Let’s have a closer look at the features and the devices that are set to receive these updates.
Improved Night Portrait Photography
This feature enables the telephoto sensor to be used to click portrait shots in low light scenarios.

Improved/Enabled Auto-Framing Feature
The Auto-Framing feature zooms in and out and then pans around the camera to allow you to shoot up to 10 people in a picture. Samsung says it has tweaked the performance of this feature on its foldable range. The Samsung Galaxy S21 series gets this feature for the first time.
Video Calls Get Improved Effects
With this feature, you can replace your background and gain mic controls during the video call. It also works with third-party calling apps such as Google Duo, Google Meet, Facebook Messenger (Meta), Whatsapp, Knox Meeting, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, BlueJeans, Webex Meetings, and KakaoTalk.
Supported Devices: Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 4G/5G, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy Note 10 series, and Galaxy Note 10 Lite will get this feature in the second half of 2022.
Auto-Framing Effects In Video Calls
Just like Auto-Framing in still shots, you can activate the feature while you’re video calling to fit more subjects. Also, the camera will pan according to your movement, saving you the effort of manually adjusting the framing.
Supported Devices: Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 4G/5G, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Camera Quality Improvements In Third-Party Apps
Older Samsung devices will employ Galaxy S22 series’ advanced processing techniques to improve camera quality in Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. This would be beneficial for Reel makers and influencers.
Supported Devices: Samsung Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 Improvements
Samsung has made the Expert Raw app available for its Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. You can download it from the Galaxy Store. Furthermore, the Pro mode will work with its telephoto shooter too after the update.
