Samsung introduced the Fan Edition models under its flagship S-series with the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. Earlier this year, the brand launched the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. While many of us were expecting Samsung to launch the successor of the Galaxy S21 FE in the coming months, a new report by The Elec claims that it has terminated the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE development. Also, the Fan Edition series is said to make a comeback next year with the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.
The report further claims that Samsung has taken this step due to chip shortage and increased demand for its premium flagship—the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Let us take a closer look at what could be the future of the Samsung Galaxy Fan Edition models.
Fan Edition Series Will Make a Comeback With Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Next Year
Folks at The Elec claim that Samsung doesn’t have a plan to kill the Fan Edition series altogether and the series will make a comeback with the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE next year. The report further suggests that Samsung has decided to cancel the Galaxy S22 FE development as it is struggling to meet the demand for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. This is due to the chip shortage as well as the increased demand for the flagship model.
The report reveals that Samsung had planned to ship the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE with the exact same chipset as that of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series and it was aiming to sell 3 million units of the Galaxy S22 FE. However, due to the strong demand for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series device, particularly the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the brand had to revise its strategy.
