TikTok Launches Memoji-Like Avatars In The Latest Update

TikTok has globally launched Memoji-like Avatars to let users create their virtual avatars on the platform and “showcase their individuality”. With the latest update, creators will be able to choose from a variety of hairstyles, accessories, and other features to create their TikTok Avatars. However, the fact that the feature is similar to Apple‘s Memoji, Facebook‘s and Instagram‘s Avatars, and Snapchat’s Bitmoji, takes away the thrill.

How To Set Up Your TikTok Memoji Avatar

With the latest update, TikTok users can now create their virtual versions by opening the effects section in the app and searching for the Avatar effect. They can personalize the look of their Avatar by picking from an array of outfits, accurate skin tones, and hair colours and texture options. Once the Avatar is created, it will mimic the gestures and movements of the users and let them record videos.

Commenting on the launch of the new Memojis, TikTok says, “We’re excited to see how people use Avatars to express their creativity and continue exploring ways to bring Avatars into more TikTok experiences, building spaces across TikTok for self-expression and expanding on the ways people connect and create across our global community”.

The company also says that building inclusive features and experiences remains its priority, and it’s eager to accept feedback from its community on ways it can continue to improve its diversity and inclusion efforts. Meanwhile, the social media giant is also testing a new feature called Clear Mode, which will clear on-screen clutter like captions and buttons when users scroll through content on the app. This will allow users to view content without any distractions on the app.
