WhatsApp has launched a new resource hub called ‘Safety in India’ to address the online privacy and security concerns of users in India. Besides providing users more control over their safety while using the app, the new resource hub provides insights into various built-in security features of the app. The hub also talks about various steps taken by the app to address misinformation.

It is aimed at building awareness around online safety, privacy, and security.

The hub details various in-built features of WhatsApp that can help users protect themselves from potential cyber scams. Highlighted features include two-step verification, Touch ID and Face ID unlock features of WhatsApp on iPhone, and Fingerprint lock for Android users.

Furthermore, it talks about account blocking and reporting, message-level reporting, and admin controls for groups. Besides, the newly launched resource hub also mentions the recently introduced features including Disappearing messages, View Once, and End-to-end encrypted backups.
The resource hub also elaborates measures taken by WhatsApp to address misinformation spread via their platform. However, the app continues to be criticized by users for spreading fake news and hatred in the country. The launch of the resource hub does not seem to be helping the app with clearing its image, but, it is definitely a good start to make WhatsApp safer for users.
