WhatsApp has been working on various status update features over the past months. The popular messaging platform will reportedly get a new status reply indicator and an improved design for sharing links. According to a latest report, the app will also let users view the status directly from the chat list.
WABetaInfo states that WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.13.9 is now rolling out for select beta testers. This new update will allow you to see status updates right from your chat lists. Simply tapping on their profile picture will open up their WhatsApp status. This is similar to how the stories indicator works on Instagram, wherein clicking on the profile picture takes you to the story posted by the user.

As seen in the above screenshot, you will be able to see a new status update whenever a contact adds a status on WhatsApp. You will no longer have to go to your status tab to see it, simply tap on the user’s profile picture from the chats section.
In case you’re annoyed by status updates and don’t use them at all, WhatsApp will allow you to mute them. On muting, the updates won’t be shown on your chat list.

Last week, WhatsApp had announced that the native app is now available for download on the Microsoft store. The company claims that the native app is faster and more reliable than the web versions as they are specifically designed for Windows. Moreover, you will be able to view notifications as well as send and receive messages even if your phone is offline.
