Xiaomi 12 Images Leak Ahead Of Launch, Reveals Triple-Camera Setup

With the announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MediaTek Dimensity 9000 flagship smartphone processors, brands have started teasing their next-generation high-end smartphones. Even Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its next-generation high-end smartphone, the Xiaomi 12, later this month in China. Rumour has it that there will be other phones in the Xiaomi 12 lineup, including the Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The Xiaomi 12 will make its debut on December 28, 2021, in China.

As we are heading towards the rumoured launch date, leaks and rumours have started popping up on the internet as they always do. Xiaomi 12’s high-resolution images have now appeared, courtesy of @OnLeaks and Zoutons. Let us take a closer look at the Xiaomi 12’s design and features.

Xiaomi 12 Design and Renders

The Xiaomi 12 appears to have received a design makeover compared to its predecessor, the Mi 11. It has a display that curves towards all its corners. It also features a centred punch-hole compared to the Mi 11’s corner punch-hole display. On the rear, there is a triple-camera setup that has a dual-LED flash. The rear-facing camera layout is reminiscent of the recently-launched Mi 11T smartphone series.

The right edge of the Xiaomi 12 houses the power and volume buttons, while the SIM card tray is located on the left edge. The bottom edge of the device has room for the loudspeaker gill, primary microphone, and a USB Type-C port. The top edge of the phone houses the secondary loudspeaker grill, the secondary microphone, and an infrared port.

Since both the phone’s loudspeakers are edges of the top and bottom of the phone, they won’t get blocked by fingers when a user holds the device in landscape mode. That’s a clever design improvement over the Xiaomi Mi 11 series. To those unaware, the Mi 11 series’s loudspeakers get blocked while using the device in landscape mode.

Xiaomi 12 Specifications, Features (Rumored)

The leak suggests that the Xiaomi 12 will feature a 6.2-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution. We can expect it to use an OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and an optical in-display fingerprint reader. The upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and at least 128GB internal storage. The company could launch it in higher memory configurations as well.

The Xiaomi 12 is said to be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery (higher than Mi 11), a USB Type-C port, and 100W fast charging. It is expected to feature support for fast wireless charging. The device could measure 152.7×70.0x8.6mm (excluding camera bump). However, the thickness would be 11.5mm if the thickness of the camera bump is taken into consideration. It is said to come in Black, Gold, and White colour variants, and it might cost ₹69,990 when it launches in India.
