The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was introduced in China back in August 2022. However, the smartphone never made it to the global markets. The company appears to have different plans for the 12S Ultra successor, which it plans to expand globally. The company CEO, Lei Jun, has shared the information via a tweet. While the device is expected to be succeeded by the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, the company has not mentioned any details confirming the same.

However, the top executive hasn’t revealed an exact launch timeline for the device. To recall, the 12S Ultra was the first-ever smartphone from Xiaomi to feature a Leica camera system. The smartphone received an overwhelming response owing to its impressive specifications, hardware, and camera performance.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra features a 6.73-inch AMOLED LTPO 2.0 display that offers a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display also comes with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, Corning Gorilla Glass protection, a punch-hole cutout, and curved edges. The smartphone comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. In terms of software, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra runs Android 12-based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box.

For photography, the smartphones offers a triple-rear camera system powered by Leica. The setup comprises a 48MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 48MP zoom lens. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone is the first to use the custom one-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. For selfies and video calls, the device has a 32MP front camera.
When it comes to the battery, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with 120W fast charging support. Other primary features on the device include an in-display fingerprint sensor, an IP68 rating for water resistance, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, Hi-Res audio, and Harman Kardon speakers.
