Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update for its 2020 mid-range smartphone, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, in India. The handset had received the Android 11 Stable update back in June 2021. However, the latest MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update is available only to Pilot Testers for now. To those unaware, these Pilot Testers are recruited by the company and are the first ones to receive MIUI updates and such updates might be a bit buggy. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update comes with firmware version MIUI 12.5.2.3.RJXINXM, and has a download size of around 311MB.

MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update uses new algorithms that dynamically allocate system resources based on specific tasks to ensure a smooth user experience. In order to make RAM management more efficient, Xiaomi is also introducing a new Atomized Memory feature with the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update. There is also a new Liquid Storage feature in MIUI 12.5 which ensures that the system remains responsive.
Readers must note that MIUI 12.5 update for Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is only available to Pilot testers for now. To those unaware, MIUI Pilot testers get early access to MIUI firmware updates. These testers try put the update thoroughly, and then the update is rolled out as a public version if no critical bugs are reported by Pilot testers. It might take a few weeks before Xiaomi begins a broad rollout of MIUI 12.5 Enhanced for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor which has the Adreno 618 GPU. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a quad-rear camera setup, including a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the phone uses a 32MP sensor at the front.
The Note 9 Pro Max is equipped with a 5,020mAh battery that supports up to 33W fast charging. The handset also features a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a USB Type-C charging port.
